City Overview

Vienna is the capital and largest city of Austria, and the city with the highest quality of life according several studies worldwide. There are two main high street destinations in Vienna. The redesigned Mariahilfer Strasse is the most popular for mass-market, mid-range shopping and was recently converted into a pedestrian area. International brands as Weekday, Monki and Terranova opened their first Austrian store at Mariahilfer Strasse. The second is the inner-city in the shape of the so called “Golden H”. The Kärntner Strasse is the area for the mass market brands such as H&M, Mango, Swarovski, Benetton, Humanic, Palmers, Geox, Douglas and and is anchored by P&C, Zara flagship store and the department store Steffl. Kohlmarkt including the “Goldenes Quartier” (an inner city, luxury shopping gallery) is the luxury hub. The Graben is the connecting street between Kärntner Straße und Kohlmarkt presenting the middle to high price offer. The latest high street openings in the city center are Tesla, Dsquared², Zara Home and Rituals. This area benefits from a considerable increase in the number of tourists. Due to a massive demand for high street locations and due to limited supply, rents are constantly high and the payment of key money is common. A new developing high streets area is the Herrengasse which was partially converted into a semi-pedestrian zone...
