Retail By City

Sao PauloBrazil

city rank #122

City Overview

There is a strong combination of high street and shopping malls in this megacity. However, several sectors are more dependent on street locations than in malls, including furniture, apparel, cars, and electronic products. Shopping malls have seen much success in São Paulo for several years, with many registering consistently high occupancy.  Strong consumer spending and high traffic have meant that owners continue to invest in and extend their centres. Despite the sluggish economy, Brazil has a large population and therefore strong and increasing consumer demand. São Paulo, the country's leading business and financial hub, is where most of the luxury market is concentrated. Apple, Chanel, Hermès, Burberry, Carolina Herrera, Marc Jacobs, Goyard, Celine and Jimmy Choo are just some of the major international luxury brands that have opened single-brand stores in São Paulo over the past years, most of them operated under franchise. Cidade Jardim and JK Iguatemi are some of the  ultra-luxurious mixed developments that include retail, residential and/or office buildings.
