City Overview

Nuremberg is the second largest city in the federal state of Bavaria and capital of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region with a population of 3.6 million. There are a number of strands to the city’s economy, the most important of which is the consumer goods industry. Nuremberg is also an important exhibition center and tourist destination, with its castle as the major landmark. In the wintertime, the famous Christkindl Markt (Christmas Market) attracts visitors from all over Germany and abroad.

Nuremberg has an attractive retail market. The main high streets are Breite Gasse and Karolinenstrasse, which have a broad retail offer. Both streets form a circle, allowing customers to walk in a loop through the city center. Königstrasse and Kaiserstrasse are also interesting shopping destinations, the latter specialises in upmarket brands.
