Retail By City

BudapestHungary

city rank #69

City Overview

Greater Budapest is one of the key commercial centres in Central and Eastern Europe. The city's defining retail schemes have been developed in the last 20 years and are located along the edge of the downtown areas, near important public transport hubs. Retailers generally target one of the five prime shopping centres or the downtown high street areas as locations for their flagship stores. High street retail is becoming increasingly more important as new schemes are opening here, expanding the volume of prime retail stock. In sync with the general recovery from the economic downturn, retail sales have increased at a robust pace in the last three years on the back of higher domestic purchasing power and strong tourism growth.
